PANELISTS

Every week, GHIP'ers had the opportunity to hear from panelists doing important work in various sectors of global health
Dr. Bogdan Chiva Giurca is an award-winning Junior DOctor within the London South Thames Foundation School (UK). He lead a workshop on Global Health Advocacy for GHIP.
Dr. Avik Chatterjee is a med-peds trained primary care and addiction medicine physician. He led a workshop on Social Determinants of Health for GHIP.
Dr. Vikram D. Bakhru is the President of FIMRC, which he founded in 2002 with the goal of bringing medical care to underserved communities. He lead a workshop on Global Health & Volunteer Ethics for GHIP.
Cray Noah is an engineer and doctor-in-training dedicated to innovating ways to extend the reach of medical technology. He lead a workshop on Visualizing and Mapping Community Health Data for GHIP.
Jon Shaffer’s is a Ph.D. student studying how global health NGO’s resists dominant field pressures and develop alternative strategies in advancing state-protected universal health care access, social change, and human rights. He led a workshop titled “What is Global Health” for GHIP.
Dr. Brittany Seymour is an Associate Professor and Global Health Discipline Director at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She lead a workshop on Advocacy and Service in Global Health for GHIP.
Dana Vigue is an MD-PhD candidate at Harvard Medical School pursuing a Ph.D. in Medical Anthropology. She lead a workshop on Visualizing and Mapping Community Health Data for GHIP.

PROJECTS

GHIP'ers had the chance to contribute to FIMRC through work on one of five projects. These projects were lead by FIMRC committee chairs and board members.

Educational Pamphlets

  • Developed educational materials to distribute to under-resourced clinic sites in Boston and in Asia, Latin America, and Africa (within the scope of FIMRC)​
  • Pamphlets focused on increasing people's awareness about safe social distancing practice, mental health during times of crisis, and diet for a healthy lifestyle.

Global Health Newsletter

Connected Global Health to social class and race by...
  • Crafting a statement of solidarity 
  • Researching and contacting students, public figures, and Faculty for interviews 
  • Creating original and enthralling newsletter content to be featured in GHIP’s end of summer Global Health Newsletter​

Fundraising

  • Designed and organized a Fundraising Challenge to engage Harvard students in friendly competition while raising money for non-profit health organizations

Service Projects

  • Created a comprehensive database of virtual and in-person volunteering opportunities throughout the Boston and Cambridge area 

Social Media Engagement

  • Researched information for “FIMRC Fact Fridays” + posted on official instagram weekly
  • Researched information on organizational COVID response + posted on instagram

GROUP PRESENTATIONS

GHIP'ers researched and presented on a variety of topics during the course of the program
